We are now #22 on the waiting list, and thrilled that we could possibly be holding our little one sometime this spring! We found out today that once we get into the top 10, we could be chosen at any time. This was new information to us. We had originally thought that placements were made strictly according to a family's waiting list number. It now appears as if more and more birth-mothers are requesting to "choose" the family that will adopt their baby. Brian and I feel very good about this. We really had hoped that our baby's mother would have some say in who would be raising this little one. We also feel that this connection will help her to feel more a part of the whole process. We are truly excited to meet her. So...only 12 more babies need to placed, and we could potentially be on our way to Guatemala!!!
We are praying right now for peace and clarity for our baby's birth-mother, our baby's growth and development, and for the processing time to improve in Guatemala. The government seems to be taking much longer to process adoptions right now, and this means that our baby will probably be older than we originally expected once she comes home. We will continue to pray for efficiency in this area, but feel at peace that God will bring our daughter home "in His perfect timing". We feel especially confident in knowing that she will be receiving excellent nutrition and care.
Additionally, we are expecting to hear from Shaohannah's Hope this week (to find out if we have been selected to receive an adoption grant). We are praying that this organization finds our family deserving of a grant. We will keep you posted.
The freshness of Spring and the new life evident around our neighborhood is especially meaningful to us this year. We are all eagerly awaiting the addition of this new little life into our family. What an absolutely exciting time!
