"We have been blessed - now we're going to be a blessing,
We have been loved- now we're going to bring love,
We've been invited - we're going to share the invitation,
We have been changed to bring change, to bring change..."
This song, "Changed" by Aaron Nyquist was sung in church a couple of weeks ago. It nearly brought tears to me eyes because it so beautifully describes our emotions right now. We feel amazingly blessed by the support we have received from family and friends. We have had notes of encouragement dropped off at our home, special gifts given to the baby, unexpected financial support found in our mailbox, and constant prayers from so many friends and family members. Our church has offered to help us collect donations to bring with us to the orphanage, as well as the womens home. Joel's Thursday School is involved in collecting items for us to bring, as well. We also received word from Shaohannah's Hope of a $3,000 grant we received to help fund our adoption. Aside from these blessings, Brian and I are so very grateful for the countless conversations we have had with others, simply because we too, are "in the process of adopting". It is an amazing new world!
Our prayer is that we truly can be a blessing to those we encounter while we are in Guatemala, especially our baby's birthmother. We have been thinking of her quite a bit lately, anticipating the difficult weeks ahead for her. She will be preparing her heart to give up her baby, and we will be preparing our hearts for a beautiful new daughter. We pray that she has peace in her decision and that we are able to convey to her how very much we already love this little girl.
