Joel's third grade year is off to a good start, despite the craziness with my foot. He had a terrific soccer season and was even able to be on a team with one of his best friends, Matthew. He is loving (HC)2 - which is Holland Christian Homeschool Connection. The kids go there each Wednesday for art, music, gym, social studies, and writing (and of course, lunch and recess). They so look forward to their time there each week.
Joel continues to play the violin and recently moved up to a 3/4 size. He has not been street-performing very much this fall, due to our schedule, but he is working on several pieces for a Christmas program in December.
A few weeks ago, Joel received the phone call he had been waiting for all summer. He had auditioned in May to be part of the Holland Chorale Kids, and was chosen as the alternate. He was SO hoping that one of the twelve members would move or decide not to be part of the choir over the summer. Well, his wish came true, and one of the students decided to pursue other interests, so Joel is now part of the Chorale Kids. They practice for two hours each week and will be performing during the holiday season and then again during Tulip Time. He has already learned so much, and is really enjoying the experience.
He is still hoping and praying for a little brother someday, but I'm thinking that is not a real likely possibility. Maybe a dog... we'll see...
