An early Christmas surprise...

Several weeks ago, we decided to make plans to take Joel and Grace to Guatemala with us to pick up Ana. Without telling them what we were doing or why, we got them their necessary immunizations and obtained passports for them. This evening, while decorating the house for Christmas, the kids both found small wrapped packages in thier stockings. They were quite surprised, and wondered if it was something they missed from last year. They begged to open this mysterious package early, as they couldn't imagine what it could be or how it had gotten there. Within seconds of tearing off the top layer of wrapping paper, they realized that they had both been given passports. The next several minutes were filled with a tremendous amount of squealing and jumping all over the living room with random shouts of, "We're going to Guatemala! We're going to Guatemala!!!" Yes, we captured it all on video! :-) What an absolute joy that they are so thrilled to go and get their sister! When we asked Joel what he was most excited about he replied, "Well, getting Ana, but I'm also really excited to teach all the boys at the orphanage how to play soccer." We feel that this will be an excellent opportunity for them to experience the joy of giving to others.
